Our Summer at H. D. A. C.

Hello, our names are Laura and Julia, and we made this site as part of a summer internship at the Human Developmental Anatomy Center in the National Museum of Health and Medicine in the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology.

The Human Developmental Anatomy Center has many purposes. It catalogs and preserves collections donated. One of the largest collections of embryos, the Carnegie collection, is currently held in the H. D. A. C. Many of the materials from the Carnegie Collection are pre-1930's making them very delicate and fragile.

There is everything from wax and plaster models, to information on how the slides of the embryos were made.

The H. D. A. C. is also involved in using modern technology to make 3-D computer models of embryos. If you want to see them, go to the links section and link back to their website.

We enjoyed our summer interning at H. D. A. C. as a part of the SEAP program very much. We would like to thank our mentor Liz Lockett for helping us and allowing us to work on this project. We would also like to thank the other members of H.D.A.C. for helping us work on our project.
